The organisers of Mitchell Creek Rock and Blues Festival have a mojo rising. It the seventh year of the festival and if you are familiar with the story of the Hootchie Cootchie Man you will understand why the event is announcing the lineup slowly, seven at a time, on the seventh day of each month until the event in September.

Joining Renee Geyer, Ross Wilson, The Backsliders, Jesse Redwing, Gerry Joe Weise, The Fumes and Cass Eager and the Velvet Rope are:

Justin Yap Band, Marji Curran, Geoff Achison and the Soul Diggers, Fiona O’Shea and the Passengers, Salt and Steel, That Red Head and Little Billie.

Who will be next? With another 35 acts to announce there are sure to be some surprises.

Justin Yap Band

With their first album ‘Long Way From Home’ debuting at No. 3 on the Australian Blues Charts and remaining in the top 20 for four months, the Justin Yap Band plays a potent blend of Deep Blues, Sanctified Soul, and Down-Home Funk. Led by guitarist Justin Yap, the band delivers electrifying and dynamic performances, bringing out their chemistry and energy in full force at every show.

Marji Curran

Marji Curran is an Australian independent artist, renowned for her lyrical and vocal power and passion. She takes audiences on an emotive journey, through predominantly original Blues-rock and Roots songs. Marji has toured Australasia with her previous band for 12 years and has released 2 albums. Fronting her band, Marji brings audiences to their feet with signature high energy, foot-stomping performances. Recent appearances include The Great Southern Blues Festival, Mitchell Creek Rock n Blues Festival and Bay of Islands Jazz and Blues Festival New Zealand.

Geoff Achison and the Soul Diggers

Geoff Achison is an award winning blues-roots artist from Australia known for his energetic live performances and unique guitar mastery. Geoff began his apprenticeship with legendary Australian blues stylist 'Dutch' Tilders establishing himself as a fine lead guitarist before striking out with his own. He was an independent music pioneer releasing music on his own record label in the early 90s and touring throughout the USA, UK & Europe.

From foot stomping to heart stopping, Fiona O'Shea writes with passion about love, living and everyday things. Travelling the road between small towns and big cities where words sock you in the heart, melodies explode and you catch yourself singing along. Her performance and vocal style akin to Queensland weather. One minute you're sipping tea on the front verandah, the next you're in the middle of an exhilarating summer storm.

Lozz Benson aka That Red Head is staking a proud claim as the latest in a long line of flame-haired femme fatales by breaking stereotypes and being the creative force behind the music. “Lozz is a real entertainer on stage. Little Billie

Little Billie has an energetic, contemporary style, rooted in the blues with an upbeat rockabilly edge. Originally formed in 2015 by lead vocalist Tahnee Sarah, the band has evolved from their traditional 50’s Chicago blues and rockabilly roots by mixing it up with an original modern twist, to produce a high energy blues, roots and rockabilly fusion. On stage, expect to see Danny Lowrie on lead guitar, Dale Berends on upright bass, Jeffrey Enchelmaier on drums and Tahnee Sarah on rhythm guitar and vocals, collectively creating a pumping vibe that's impossible not to groove to.

Over 150 musicians will take part in what has become a pilgrimage for music lovers all over Australian and New Zealand, who vow to return year after year to experience three unforgettable days of music, camping and multi-cultural foods and market stalls on 100 acres of breathtaking views, surrounded by untouched mountains in the beautiful Mary Valley in the Noosa Hinterland.

Each year the festival site becomes a mini township, fully equipped with arts and crafts, fashion, a myriad of cuisines to suit all tastes, a licensed bar, a secure kids area, bush volleyball and even a resident artist. (Brian Tisdale who is responsible for the awesome events posters).
