Whether playing unplugged acoustic, an electrifying one-man power blues band or with a trio, Ashton lights up the stage with his showmanship, charismatic wit, audience rapport and dextrous guitar playing, that started in the ’80s when he was part of Stevie Wright’s and Swanee’s bands in Sydney, then with Jim Keays in Melbourne in the 90s and Band of Friends (Rory Gallagher’s backing band) in the 2000s.
Gwyn Ashton is playing festivals, venues and educational workshops around the world and is available for Australian bookings from November 2025 - April 2026.
Ashton’s last album Mojosoul is still on the Australian Roots & Blues Charts. He's now releasing a new album, Grease Bucket, recorded with the help of Icehouse drummer Paul Wheeler.
In 2023 Ashton co-headlined the Adelaide Guitar Festival with Chris Finnen and released a single, Get Outta Town, with Guns N Roses guitarist Richard Fortus and members of Cold Chisel and Superjesus. He plays folk, blues, rock and jazz festivals, venues, bars, school masterclasses and on radio stations, worldwide.
Ashton has spent the past 30 years recording and touring with some of the biggest names in rock and blues music and has accolades from musicians such as Robert Plant, Jackson Browne, Johnny Winter, David Crosby and more. His website is full of extra information and videos.
