Mitchell Creek Festival has got a mojo working. The Hootchie Cootchie Man is in the house and so, on this 7th Day of February the first 7 stellar artists performing at the 7th Mitchell Creek Rock’n’Blues Festival are hereby officially announced.

The Legendary Lady of Soul Renee Geyer, Mr. Eagle Rock, the frontman for Mondo Rock and Daddy Cool, Ross Wilson, International Blues legend Gerry Joe Weise, grinding riff experts The Fumes, the amazing Jesse Redwing, The Backsliders, and the talented Cass Eager and the Velvet Rope are seven of many more acts to be announced on the seventh day of each month for the next 7 months.

Renee Geyer

Renée Geyer’s career has spanned four decades and is still going strong with her 25th album of 2013 “Swing”. A precocious jazz, blues and soul singer in her late teens; Countdown royalty in her 20s; a string of pop, soul and reggae hits spanning the 70s and 80s; her LA years in the studio with the likes of Stevie Wonder, Sting, Joe Cocker and Chaka Kahn; her 90s renaissance with Paul Kelly. She is a singer, a songwriter, producer, and author. In 2005 Renée was inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame, and in 2013 into The Age Music Victoria Hall of Fame, both proud occasions in which she joined the ranks of Australia’s most respected and accomplished musicians.

Ross Wilson

With a stellar career spanning more than 45 years and showing no signs of slowing, Mr Eagle Rock Ross Wilson is one of Australian rock music's most enduring and lauded talents. Twice inducted in to the ARIA Hall of Fame (1989 solo and 2006 with Daddy Cool), Wilson continues to win acclaim. Eagle Rock has been included in the National Film and Sound Archive 'Sounds of Australia Collection', his latest 3 singles from his new album 'I Come In Peace' have been added to playlists at over 50 commercial stations nationally and the title track is released as a single accompanied by a hot new video, the 1st RW studio vid since 1990!!! Ross again sets new records for a performer of his generation with his '5 Decades of Cool' concert series was nominated for the 2010 Helpmann Award for 'Best Contemporary Australian Concert'. Wilson released two albums in 2010, the contemporary 'I Come In Peace' and a new 'Best Of' entitled Mr Eagle Rock, both released independently through Shock Entertainment.

Gerry Joe Weise

Gerry Joe Weise blues guitarist, singer and songwriter was born in Sydney. He has toured Australia, the USA, Europe, Poland, Russia, Hawaii, Tahiti, Fiji, Polynesia, the Azores Isles, Scandinavia and New Zealand. Throughout his many tours, he has jammed with B.B. King, John Lee Hooker, Eric Clapton, Albert Collins and Noel Redding. Juma Sultan (ex Jimi Hendrix) has recently been a band member for European and USA Festivals. He has released 11 albums and 3 singles with Blues Breaking Records in Chicago, Illinois, USA.

Jesse Redwing

Jesse Redwing and his band have created an authentic blues sound combined with a raw punk energy, pulsating out of the bands respective sound holes.
Raised on the rich tradition of Chicago blues legends like Howlin Wolf, Little Walter and Muddy Waters and inspired by British pioneers who experimented with the spirit and language of the blues, to break the chains of an emotionally repressed society.

Cass Eager and the Velvet Rope

Named by folk-blog Timber and Steel as ‘Janis Joplin and Ben Harper’s love-child’, Cass Eager’s mix of raw blues, husky soul and lighthearted ditties are all punctuated with her unique whisky-soaked vocals. Emotive, slightly raspy, at times tender and at times powerful – Eager’s voice is the driving force of her music.

Mitchell Creek Festival is held on 100 hectares of private property nestled in the lush woodlands of the Mary Valley in the Noosa Hinterlands on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland. Everyone who attends agrees that their is something very mystical about the location, in fact “The Spirit of the Place” is often spoken about by organiser, Jimmy Budgen as a place where everyone comes together in harmony to enjoy the gift of music. The beautiful landscape and mineral rich waterways host a plethora of native plants and wildlife but it’s not just the location that has allowed this event to thrive over the last seven years.

The three day festival appeals to a wide cross section of community and music lovers. It is an ideal destination for campers, RVs and caravan enthusiasts with free camping offered as part of the ticket to the three day event, with option for VIPs to arrive early to set up camp. It is a family friendly event, featuring a kids area with programmed activities as well as multi-cultural food stalls and a variety of market stalls.
